The Farm Stand Opens for the Season April 22nd!!

OUR SEASON OPENING IS APRIL 22ND

The farmstand is officially opening for the season on April 22nd (9 am to 6 pm daily). We couldn't think of a more fitting day to open than Earth Day. We hope you'll stop over to say hello and pick up some spring plants.

We will be bringing in locally grown annuals, perennials, hanging plants, and deck/patio containers.

As far as Annuals go we will be carrying old-time favorites, such as, but not limited to:
  • Impatiens
  • Begonias
  • Marigolds
  • Petunias
  • Vincas
  • Zinnias

We will also be carrying Proven Winner Annuals, such as, but not limited to:
  • Million Bell Petunias
  • Wave Petunias
  • Cascading Petunias
  • New Guinea Impatiens
  • Verbena
  • Lantana

Plan on perusing a wonderful selection of veggie transplants, perennials, foliage, and tropical plants in addition to lots of wonderful local products (meats, cheese, pasta, spices, and baked goods) and our very own SIW jarred pasta sauces, honey, fruit butters, and more!

THE NEXT CROP MOB IS APRIL 24TH

Enjoy a morning on the farm, stretch your bones,
and get some fresh air!

Saturday, April 24th
from 9 am -12 noon with lunch included afterward

Join us at the farm to clean high tunnels, plant seedlings, and help with other start-of-the-season farm tasks. The events start at 9 AM. Bring your gardening gloves and dress to get dirty. Lunch will be provided; please specify if you'll need a vegetarian lunch. This event is FREE but please register by 4/21 respectively via email: torig.siw@gmail.com so we can be sure to have a yummy lunch for you! Open to the public and all ages welcome. Masks will need to be worn.

Here's a photo of our dirty but happy Crop Mobbers, from March 27th, heading to the lunch table. Thank you to all of the helpful people doing farm jobs that are not the most fun but need to be done. We got a lot accomplished and enjoyed the company of some great people!

THERE'S STILL TIME TO SIGN UP FOR THE CSA AND SIW BUCKS

What is Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)? Historically, CSA’s charged you money in the winter & gave you whatever they had (their choice) every week throughout the growing season. In addition, members had to work a certain number of hours on the farm to share in the experience. This helped to educate the members about what it takes to produce their vegetables and why some crops failed & others didn’t. It also helped the farmer to get some work done too! Some people even like that kind of thing!

We do charge you in the winter and we do give you stuff in the summer. We don’t require you to work on the farm in the summer though we would welcome you with open arms. Summer camp for the kids? Ha! I encourage you to at least come to see that we really are growing fruits and veggies on the farm. If you agree to become a member you pay me in the winter and I give you fruits and vegetables that I grow once a week throughout the growing season, (Every other week for a Half Share). Typically we start to get a few things in mid-June, most things in July through early October and decrease in October as the month wears on. Except for pumpkins and all the fall decorating stuff, of course. The idea is that you help us when we don’t have any money coming in and eat healthy all summer! Our canned goods are not included though you do get a discount on them. You also share in the ups and downs of the growing season.
